From the seeds of a simple dream grew The Flower Gift
Some may say my journey into flower farming began when I was just a little girl. My mother was a gardening extraordinaire ( my ‘encyclopaedia of gardening’), selling plants from our home and teaching me all she knew. But my personal passion blossomed when my obsession with Dahlias began in 2005. A trip with my two girls to The Eden Project sparked a memory I'll never forget. Simply both standing in front of a beautiful patch of Dahlias, this is where my dahlia obsession began, followed by so many other beautiful flowers for cutting.
in 2021 I started making bouquets as gifts and tokens of joy for family and friends, taking courses and beginning the hard graft of preparing beds on my land to begin planting. And so, from the seeds of a simple dream grew The Flower Gift.
Every bloom tells a story, and every arrangement is a work of art.
I believe in the magic of flowers and their power to brighten lives. As a small-scale flower farm, I prioritise quality over quantity, allowing me to provide an exceptional level of attention and care to every petal.
By championing native flora, I celebrate the unique and diverse beauty that our homeland has to offer, adding a touch of authenticity to every bouquet and arrangement. I understand the significance of responsible farming and strive to minimise my ecological footprint while producing exquisite flowers that tell stories of their own.
My commitment to sustainable and natural growing methods ensures that each blossom radiates vibrancy and vitality, free from harmful chemicals. The heart of my flower farm beats with a love for the craft, a dedication to nurturing life, and a desire to bring the timeless beauty of nature to your world. With a passion for growing the beauties this world has to offer, I stand firm in my commitment to nurturing both nature and the soul.
Why British Blooms?
By supporting local flower farms, we contribute to a more eco-friendly floral industry, fostering a future where the beauty of nature, aligns with the preservation of our precious planet.
The flower industry often remains overshadowed when discussions turn to environmental impact and CO2 emissions, especially concerning the importation of cut flowers. In the UK the love for flowers is evident, with approximately 50% of British households purchasing cut flowers. Astonishingly, a mere 14% of these flowers are cultivated within the UK, leaving a staggering 86% to be sourced from overseas, predominantly the Netherlands, Ecuador, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
To put this into perspective, two imported bouquets of flowers contribute more CO2 emissions than the carbon footprint of a passenger flying economy from Paris to London – a journey spanning hundreds of miles!!
